A Not-so-Round House


The NH squeezed a lot of railroad yard onto the limited space available between downtown Springfield and the bank of the Connecticut river. That resulted not only in a pretty fascinating track layout but also this peculiar "cut off" roundhouse.

    That really is an interesting setup. I wonder why they didn't make a landfill at the river bank to have more available space?
